This presentation will describe the results of observations made by unconventional techniques on the retinal circulation of normal persons and patients with a variety of systemic disorders often associated with retinopathy. The techniques are based on retinal photography and consist of (1) measurement of change in the diameter of retinal vessels resulting from various stimuli, especially oxygen inhalation; (2) measurement of retinal arteriovenous blood oxygen difference; and (3) direct observation of the retinal circulation by photography with appropriate filters after intravenous administration of fluorescein.
