Some 15 per cent of patients with asymptomatic proteinuria have "fixed and reproducible" orthostatic proteinuria. The recent description of altered glomerular structure in this disorder has suggested that its pathogenesis may well be different from that of the more common "transient" type of orthostatic proteinuria. The relative importance of renal circulatory adjustments to upright proteinuria was evaluated in 48 young males with fixed and reproducible orthostatic proteinuria.
