Dr Ostfeld has effectively presented for the practicing physician some of the general concepts now being entertained by students of the headache problem. This book is readable and clear. It does not pretend to cover the subject exhaustively, and the title, therefore, may be a bit misleading to the reader who anticipates detailed descriptions, diagnostic methods, or therapeutic programs for the common headache syndromes. The body of the text is concerned mainly with migraine, tension headache, and hypertensive headache and is, perhaps, not sufficiently clear in the distinctions among these.
