The authors have organized and analyzed 20 years of experience and the results of over 500 surgical interventions in recurrent and chronic pancreatitis. Early diagnosis and individualized surgical approach are stressed. The book is organized into chapters on early diagnosis and the techniques used to establish an etiology. Separate chapters are then devoted to the many surgical approaches used. Radiological and pathological material is abundantly reproduced. The therapeutic results reported are extremely good and are at variance with what we generally expect. This is an excellent book for the gastroenterologist or surgeon interested in this field.
