Can one author possibly write an adequate book embracing all of clinical gastroenterology? One ponders this question when first picking up the second edition of Dr. Palmer's Clinical Gastroenterology; next, he marvels at the energy of the man who dared undertake such a challenge. The book will be interesting to specialists in this field, since it presents the views of a seasoned clinician who has tackled the job of presenting an enormous experience in gastrointestinal disease with vigor, imagination, and clear thinking.
