Various methods for the insufflation of gases into the anterior mediastinum as contrast media have been described (1). Some of these have been in use in Europe for many years (2). After the recent introduction of percutaneous pneumomediastinography into Australia (3), we decided to use this procedure in the preoperative localization of a suspected mediastinal parathyroid adenoma. This paper reports the successful demonstration of such a tumor by this method.
