The Electrocardiographic Notebook is a small paperbound volume that purports to be a summary of electrocardiographic information useful to the beginner in the field. The treatment is descriptive and quite elementary, most of the theory of electrocardiography having been omitted. The number of illustrations is very limited, and the electrocardiograms suffer from the marked reduction necessitated by the small page size. The brevity of the text necessarily leads to serious omissions. There is, for example, no discussion of the wide range of variation in the normal electrocardiogram, an appreciation of which is essential for intelligent interpretation. In the section on
