Several textbooks of hematology have been published in recent years. Some of these are encyclopedic in scope encompassing every aspect of hematology with extensive bibliographies. Other textbooks are written specifically to fill the needs of the medical student, and in general give concise accounts of the more important clinical and laboratory aspects of hematologic disorders. It is in this latter category that Dr. Atamer's monograph belongs. However, this is not just another concise textbook of hematology. The unique design and organization of the book make it a most unusual and appealing volume. It is stated in the foreword written by
