The appearance of a medical monograph of 360 pages, handsomely printed on good paper, profusely illustrated (including color plates), and selling for $6.95 is a noteworthy event, even if this review could say nothing else notable. There is no such limitation in reporting on "The Evolution of the Atherosclerotic Plaque," since the economy was not achieved by omission, but by a subsidy from the U.S. Public Health Service. The remarkable value explained, the contents can be discussed reasonably.
The book presents papers given by American, Canadian, British, and European workers at a conference held less than a year before publication.
