Few good reviews on connective tissue have been made available to the investigator or teacher interested in its morphology, physiology, biochemistry, physical chemistry, and pathology. The editor of the First International Review, obviously aware of this lack, has presented authoritative expositions of each of these fields. Of the eight chapters, three are conspicuously outstanding: "The Chemical Aspects of Collagen Fibrillogenesis" by D. A. Lowther; "Molecular Structure of Collagen" by G. N. Ramachandran; and "Connective Tissue Changes in Atherosclerosis" by J. Baló. While exception may be made to the thesis put forward by Baló, there is no denying the clarity of
