This small, timely volume brings together much recent work on the whole problem of shock. Being a compilation of articles dealing with different aspects of the problem, the text shows overlap and repetition in some of the chapters, but such repetition is not excessive nor unexpected in this type of book. The bibliographies at the ends of each chapter are fine reference sources for those who wish to go more deeply into the various aspects of the subject.
This collective review brings into focus the changing emphasis today in the problem of shock. Present investigation is largely directed toward the
