The second edition of Gastroenterology upholds its tradition as a classical textbook. It covers topics on the small intestine, colon, peritoneum, mesentery, and omentum, comprehensively and well. It will appeal to students, interns, residents, and fellows, as well as practitioners. To more experienced individuals, and particularly those engaged in investigation, Volume II will serve as a reference textbook with a coverage of literature until 1961. The delay between compilation of bibliography and publication detracts minimally from this volume's appeal, however.
