In the rapidly burgeoning field of hematology texts and review articles on leukemia, one might wonder whether yet another book on this subject is necessary. After reviewing the second edition of this excellent book I can answer yes. Texts dealing with the general field of hematology suffer from the demands of space and are unable to cover in detail this particular disease. Review articles have a tendency to become mere statistical evaluations of a subject.
These approaches are, of course, important, but every so often it is necessary for an author or authors to undertake the tremendous job of synthesizing
