In view of the increasing interest in the health aspects of physical training, Jokl's comprehensive review of today's knowledge concerning the influence of sports activities on cardiac function and structure should be welcomed not only by sports physicians and physical educators but likewise by the medical profession at large and, especially, by this heart disease-ridden country's responsible health authorities and "heart disease control" agencies.
