Reviews of research of a single tissue are challenging to authors, readers, and editors, who must react to this assignment in a completely different fashion. For readers interested in the broad field of medicine, these reviews must be approached with caution since connective tissue is a limited subject presented in considerable detail by authors usually poorly acquainted with human biology in general. Authors are selected for these review articles because of their research accomplishments; consequently, they must display a high degree of maturity and objectivity in judging their own work with respect to existing knowledge.
