In the introduction the editor points out that the common interests of pediatricians and cardiologists today converge largely on the advances made in the field of congenital heart disease. He is, therefore, rightly concerned with emphasizing again the acquired cardiovascular disorders. Six contributions of this short volume by 17 German clinicians deal with the current state of opinion concerning problems of the clinic and pathology of rheumatic fever; two discuss rheumatoid arthritis; two are concerned with bacterial and viral cardiac affections. The remaining contributions deal with diagnostic and therapeutic problems.
