Modern in scope and appearance is this excellent small text. The striking features are the direct, functional approach, fresh illustrations, and a chapter on current therapy, all presented in a bright format. Missing are the old phyla-form table of contents, the historic clinical descriptions, the familiar faded photographs, the small-print paragraphs of dubious details, the listings of old toxic drugs (no more male fern or oil of chenopodium!), and the dogmatic and dull style of the old parasitology books.
