This fifth edition has been extensively revised and expanded. The authors have adopted the principle of using three main methods of interpretation simultaneously (standard patterns, vectoranalysis, and panoramic deduction) rather than a single method of scalar electrocardiographic analysis. Heavy reliance upon the work of Sodi-Pallares for ilustrative and conceptual material has enriched this revision. The schematic diagrams have been improved and in many instances three dimensional illustrations are presented. Several new chapters have been added, and the chapters on congenital heart disease, vectorcardiography, and orthogonal lead systems have been notably expanded. Discussions of controversial issues as ventricular overloading, ventricular hypertrophy
