This compilation of papers presented at the dedication on June, 1963, of the Burnside Research Laboratory of the University of Illinois, Urbana, is a basic review of lipid factors as they relate to the development of atherosclerosis. Current concepts of the role of the several lipid factors relating to atherosclerosis are summarized briefly but succinctly.
After presentation of some clinical and pathological correlations, additional chapters survey the composition of the lipids of the aorta, lipoprotein metabolism, cholesterol synthesis, and its control by physiologic and pharmacologic means.
