A broad foundation for future progress volumes has been prepared by the editor and his collaborators; the approach is not encyclopedic but rather a highlighting of promising leads; outstanding in a volume devoted to clinical cancer and necessarily heavily weighted in its surgical and radiological aspects are reviews on chemotherapy and hormone therapy of various neoplastic diseases and on the progress against leukemia. Despite the difficulties with an expanding literature, this first attempt has been focused wisely. The initial parade of subjects is necessarily long and includes, in addition to general reviews on the historical and current roles of radioisotopes
