The monumental contribution that British investigators have made to the field of transplantation is masterfully represented in this issue of the British Medical Bulletin. Each author is an authority on the subject described in his chapter. These authors are Medawar, Batchelor, Gowans, Miller, Loutit, Gowland, Simonsen, Haddow, Berenbaum, Rycroft, Gibson, Krohn, Goldsmith, Calne, Porter, and Woodruff. The Bulletin is well written as was to be expected. Some chapters are actually delightful English.
Gowans' work, which started the study of the lymphocyte, is not enough known in this country. Porter's chapter on the morphology of homograft rejection is beautiful, crystal clear,
