Technical advance has created another new field in medicine—cytogenetics. There is no denying that an authoritative treatise on human chromosome methodology is needed. The editor has carefully selected the contributors, each an authority in his field, and the book was introduced by Dr. T. C. Hsu whose contributions form the basics of modern somatic cytogenetic techniques.
My major objection to this book is its uneven distribution of material. Forty-one pages were devoted to microscopy and applied photography but only five pages to direct bone marrow preparation. If this book is to serve as a guide to persons involved in setting
