Contradicting the theme of many fanfares and flourishes that preceded the appearance of New Drugs (ND), this successor to New and Nonofficial Drugs (NND) proves to be surprisingly like its father. Within it are gathered the "monographs" (short articles) that have been prepared by the Council on Drugs and released as each drug became available for general distribution; these monographs have virtually the same form they had in NND. They have been grouped into 46 chapters, each of which is headed by a short introduction to the therapeutic use of the drugs described and older remedies (in some cases).
