It has only been some 30 years that interest in the mechanisms of atheropoiesis, or atherogenesis, has been sufficient to create almost utter confusion! Conflicting evidence and opinions are presented almost daily in the public and scientific presses. By now, the public has come to believe that neither the scientist nor the physician has any true idea of what he is talking about!
