Even a hasty skimming through this new "Howell" will convince one that it was not designed expressly for the soon-to-be-needs of the medical student, let alone for the student now clinical. Indeed, the editors point out in their "Preface" that "the word 'medical' has been deleted from the title because it is not clear that all systems can be treated in their pathophysiologic aspects within the confines of one volume while doing justice to fundamental biophysical and cellular phenomena."
