The proceedings of the Fifth Congress of the International Diabetes Federation, held in July, 1964, in Toronto, the birthplace of insulin, constitute this handsome book. Like other compendia of its kind it contains a large body of current information—as current as a book can be in a rapidly developing field. The 57 papers, most of which are brief reviews, and their related discussions that sometimes assist the reader in achieving perspective, seem to fall into two halves, each with its own theme.
