In the preface and introduction several themes are presented that recur frequently in the subsequent pages, such as the question of "blood factors" versus "agglutinogens" and the principles of serology, genetics, and nomenclature of the Rh system for which the senior author had presented a definitive solution more than 2 decades ago. The rest of the book consists of reprints of 49 articles by Dr. Wiener and three by Dr. Shapiro. As may be expected, there is considerable repetition of content, particularly in the introduction, discussion, and bibliography of each article. There is also the inevitable change in typographic setting
