Dr. Benack, a former chief of the Congestive Heart Failure section of the U. S. Public Health Service Heart Disease Control Program, has directed this monograph on congestive heart failure towards the practicing physician and so-called paramedical personnel in the community setting. He has succeeded in compiling a reasonably comprehensive account of this common disorder and has reviewed prevalence, etiology, pathology, clinical manifestations and criteria, therapy and the need for community programs in this area. The information presented is up to date and much of it appears to be based on data collected for the second National Conference on Heart
