By the title of the book one might gain the erroneous impression that Dr. McManus has written another textbook of pathology. In his preface the author points out that there is a need for a smaller, easily handled textbook of pathology which presents up-to-date information and current thinking on the essential features of the basic disease processes. The contemporary concept of general pathology and that used in the book includes basic cellular and tissue changes in disease produced by a variety of causes and essentially similar in many disease processes in different parts of the body.
