Clinical management for the patient with stroke in recent years has evolved within a system of "total" or multidisciplinary care. This is clearly demonstrated in this extremely well-conceived and -edited work by 47 knowledgeable contributors who represent a wide variety of medical- as well as health-related disciplines. For the first time within two covers, the full spectrum of diagnostic, therapeutic and psychosocial implications about this increasingly important entity is now available. The volume, therefore, represents a highly significant and contemporary contribution to our medical literature.
