The author has pointed to the need for a book to follow Peters' Body Water and Gamble's Extracellular Fluid, but unfortunately he has not succeeded in writing it. The cover is attractive and I started full of hope, but the text is marred by an unusually rich crop of misprints as well as by ungainly and sometimes ungrammatical constructions and a disquieting number of errors, especially in the early pages which aim to set the stage in terms of basic physics and chemistry. A few examples may serve to explain my distress. On page 17 the quantum is defined as
