Although peritoneoscopy has been available for almost 40 years substantially in its present form, it has become widely used in a relatively small number of medical centers, few of which are in this country. It is unlikely that Peritoneoscopy by I. Wittman will greatly extend its popularity.
This handsome two-volume publication represents an annotated atlas of 500 superb color photographs of peritoneoscopic findings. Unfortunately, the annotations and the atlas are presented as separated volumes. Although there may be certain advantages to such an arrangement, it is inconvenient, cumbersome, and often discouraging to the reader.
