Compiled from the presentations of the 62 participants in the Henry Ford Hospital International Symposium on Pain, of whom 38 were neurosurgeons, this book is more suited for neurosurgeons and neurologists than it is for physicians. Approximately one half of the text is concerned with surgery for pain relief and possibly a smallish one quarter with neuroanatomical aspects. This gives it a distinctly neurosurgical and neuroanatomical flavor.
Despite this surgical emphasis, there is a great deal of worthwhile information for all physicians. Of particular interest to practicing physicians are the chapters on the pharmacology of drugs and the chapters on
