A clearly written, excellently illustrated handbook on preparation for ambulation; selection of crutches, canes, and walkers; measuring for equipment; obtaining, maintaining, and repairing equipment; specific gaits; the special problems of patients with arthritis or paraplegia. An appendix illustrates and describes sizes and advantages and disadvantages of commonly available types of equipment for ambulation.
Would be as valuable to physicians, too often grossly ignorant of this information, as to the audience to which it has been directed.
