A comprehensive book devoted to the technical aspects of clinical bacteriology and the application of sensitivity tests to the selection of antimicrobials is badly needed. Dr. Lorian has attempted to meet this need, and he has succeeded in most respects.
Unfortunately, the first three chapters dealing with the selection of antibiotics, bacterial resistance, and the use of antimicrobials in clinical problems have been treated superficially and detract from other parts of the book. The fourth chapter is concerned with laboratory methods and is the strongest section. It covers in detail most of the standard as well as special techniques used
