This text offers 15 chapters dealing with various aspects of the diagnosis and treatment of amenorrhea and infertility. Although "nineteen prominent authorities" contributed to this book, several chapters demonstrate the phenomenon of pretension to expertness where, in fact, it does not exist. Although there are notable exceptions, too many gynecologists extend themselves beyond their area of competence to pontificate pompously about endocrinologic mechanisms without having real understanding.
Although the organization of the book is reasonable and the indexing and bibliography are satisfactory, the editing is poor. The book is rich in grammatical errors, factual errors, internal inconsistencies, sloppy or uncritical
