In order to evaluate the role of the renal nerves in the renal response to sodium restriction and to the upright posture, three patients who had renal homotransplants 1 or more years previously and their kidney donors were studied. One pair were identical twins, and the others were close relatives. Blood for renin determinations was taken daily at 10 AM after the patient had been sitting for 2 hr.
