Dr. Kark has assembled within the narrow confines of these covers an amazing breadth of information on cancer. The reader is struck by the fact that the discussion begins at a level that would be comprehensible to anyone without medical training (all terms are defined), continues through a spectrum of information that would be familiar to most clinicians, and then extends into new information collected from an extremely wide variety of sources. Dr. Kark discusses the basic nature of cancer, current theories of its etiology, its geographical distribution, and much of the known epidemiology of a wide variety of tumors.
