Section II of the thirteenth part of Volume 16 of the Handbook of Experimental Pharmacology is, like the previously reviewed Section I, devoted to certain aspects of our knowledge of tumors. The obvious advantage of publishing handbooks in multiple smaller sections is the ease of handling—handy books instead of "handbooks." However, this sometimes means that the thread of continuity is not always clearly seen at the given time, so that individual chapters have to be judged as if they were simply monographs.
The section under review here in essence consists of two such contributions. F. Squartini has reviewed the "tumors
