In their preface the authors state their intent to provide "a comprehensive review of information available on renal carcinoma [they mean adenocarcinoma] and an atlas of its morphologic features." Instead, the 90-page synopsis is nearly swamped by 167 pages of illustrations and 717 (or fewer) references.
The text, which draws entirely on the references for its content, clearly summarizes recent thought on histogenesis, morphology, clinical presentation, technique of diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis. An excellent short chapter describes induction of renal carcinoma in laboratory animals. The photographs and the light and electron photomicrographs are beautifully reproduced, as befits contributions of the
