Human cytogenetics has acquired an extensive and diverse literature in a short time. There is considerable virtue in producing a book that attempts to organize the available information in this field and present it along with an orientation to basic principles and techniques. This book succeeds in providing an overview of observations relating to human sex chromosomes and autosomes, data on the effects of ionizing radiation, viruses, and drugs on human chromosomes, and the chromosome findings in tumors and abortions.
The sections on sex chromosome disorders, from both a clinical and a cytological standpoint, are well-done. The inclusion of chapters
