For the beginning student in electrocardiography this new fourth edition offers a rather brief, but sound, foundation for interpretation and understanding of basic electrocardiography. Although the number of illustrations is limited, they are clearly presented. The legends are extremely lucid for interpretation. A great deal of the theoretical considerations have been omitted, and consequently the material is quite understandable for the beginner in electrocardiography. Placing the vectorcardiograms back to back with the usual scaler electrocardiograms offers an interesting teaching approach. The choice of the cube system is perhaps unfortunate, and the author has probably neglected more recent references in the
