While Dr. Mikal's desires are most admirable and there is little in the area of fluid and electrolyte metabolism he has not tried to cover in this work, unfortunately the magnitude of the inaccuracies and oversimplification and the weak prose style make this book a poor one to recommend to the very persons Dr. Mikal wishes to reach.
On almost every page are statements that are partially or grossly incorrect, or, at the very least, unclear. For example, on p. 5 the author says,
During states of fever, each degree of elevation of the temperature above 100°F will cause the
