I wouldn't mind witnessing the public execution of all the editors responsible for the Handbook of Physiology, except that they would be entitled to utter any last words they wished, and that, apparently, would take forever. The latest in the series, Food and Water Intake, is the first of five volumes of Section 6 (The Alimentary Canal); previous sections dealt with Neurophysiology (3 volumes); Circulation (3 volumes); Respiration (2 volumes); Adaptation to the Environment (1 volume); and Adipose Tissue (1 volume).
