Since the first edition of this standard work on clinical allergy, developments in the rapidly growing field of immunology have increasingly had a significant impact on the clinical specialty of allergy. Although much of the practice of allergy remains necessarily empiric, a firmer scientific base for the field is now being laid by the recent advances in immunology.
