The introduction and the first four chapters were written by Dr. Currier McEwen and in them he discusses nomenclature, clinical picture, and medical management of rheumatoid arthritis. The remainder of the book was the responsibility of Dr. Preston.
General principles of treatment of the musculoskeletal lesions are outlined in Part Two. Of special interest is the "evaluation" of the patient as a whole and the discussion of prevention of deformity with correction of slight, reversible disability.
Each section of Part Three develops the management of rheumatoid arthritis of individual joints, usually in 2 to 4 chapters. The subject material is
