The stead symposium was held by pupils who wished to honor their teacher, and so it is proper here to consider some of the qualities of this teacher.
His great effectiveness can be shown by an example. On the office walls of some of his early pupils are two pictures of the full-time medical staff of the Grady Hospital in 1943 and 1946. Counting everybody, from interns to the professor, there are 50 people in those 2 pictures, nearly all very young.
