Eight years have passed since the appearance of the first volume in this series. Well received at publication, Clinical Endocrinology I has proved itself an extremely useful source of instant erudition on a variety of endocrinologic topics. A recent rereading confirmed, somewhat to my surprise, the fact that volume I remains a very pertinent reference book, despite its venerable origins.
The new book has been constructed according to the formula used before. Eighty authors (as noted in the editor's introduction, a veritable "endocrinological Who's Who") have fashioned 62 chapters covering a variety of topics. The overall excellence of their efforts
