In his preface to this volume Dr. Glass states, "The authors were asked to express their concepts freely without fear of restraint by editorial reviewers." Unfortunately, this lack of editorial control is all too evident, for the chapters that compose this book vary greatly in quality. Of the 20 chapters, only a handful, such as the chapter on gastritis by Taylor and Fisher and the chapter on vitamin B12 transport proteins by Simons, are thorough and comprehensive reviews. In many of the other chapters authors simply restate their own previously published data and points of view without reviewing thoroughly the
