Authorities in systemic mycoses are few, are widely scattered geographically, and come from many different disciplines. Because of this, there is a dearth of symposia on systemic mycoses. It is a tribute to the foresight and ability of those planners involved that in March 1967 23 experts from 13 countries on 5 continents were gathered together to discuss current progress in the systemic mycoses. The symposium was divided into four sections: pathology, clinical aspects, epidemiology, and therapy. From two to four papers were given in each section.
